Did you know Canada.. it looks like the strike is a GO.
Canada Post received notice that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) intends to begin strike activities at 11:59 p.m. EDT on June 2, 2011.
In the event of a strike, Canada Post will not operate. Mail and parcels will not be delivered. Though as we mentioned before there are some plans in place to get folks their social assistance checks.
Canada Post says despite this development, talks between the company and union are continuing in an effort to reach a negotiated settlement to this round of labour negotiations. There have been last minute agreements in the past.
Let's hope they really are continuing to work towards an agreement before the strike.

Thanks for the updates. I am hope there is no strike.
ReplyDeleteI really hope they can come to an agreement and no strike occurs.
ReplyDeleteDo you mind if I ask where you are getting these updates? I even googled Canada Post strike this morning and nothing recent came up?
ReplyDeleteDirectly from Canada Post: http://clients.infopost.ca/en/
ReplyDeleteI'm very surprised there are so little reports on this myself, I mean don't we all check our mail everyday?? Everyone says who cares I can get bills online but wedding invitations and replies, anything ordered off the internet that goes through Canada Post, insurance papers, reminders for your licence stickers, new credit cards for expired ones - there are MANY things we need the mail for besides bills.
And when I dropped off parcels at the post office this morning and ASKED about the potential strike, not ONE staff member there was able to tell me anything about it! As a paying customer shouldn't I have a right to know if they might hold my packages hostage? My customers won't be as patient and as a small business I'll be loosing quite a bit of money. I wish I was making $23 an hour with benefits and vacation! The Union is nothing but a mafia!
ReplyDeleteare we still on strike in canada..
